Both western Kentucky teams fell in the semifinals of the All "A" Classic boys state basketball tournament on Saturday.
Lyon County took it to the final seconds before losing to Newport 50-48.
Evangel Christian upended Murray 61-45 in the other semi.
Newport and Evangel Christian will meet on Sunday afternoon in Corbin for the boys state championship.
It will be preceded by the girls final between Pikeville and Covington Holy Cross.

Lyon County and Murray both rolled into the semifinals of the All "A" Classic boys basketball tournament in Corbin, while the Crittenden County girls were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Lyon County held off Walton-Verona 64-52 on Friday. The Lyons (20-1) will face a stiff test on Saturday when they meet Newport (19-3).
Murray cruised past Clinton County on Friday, 50-32. The Tigers (18-5) take on Evangel Christian (16-4).
The Crittenden girls' tournament run ended Friday with a 69-41 decision against Pikeville.

Boys action began Thursday at the All "A" Classic state basketball tournament in Corbin, and both western Kentucky teams advanced to Friday's quarterfinals.
Lyon County cruised past Owensboro Catholic 72-54. The Lyons (19-1) move on to meet Walton-Verona (15-6).
Murray also had little trouble with Williamsburg 73-39. The Tigers (17-5) will take on Clinton County (11-8).
The tournament got underway with a full slate of girls' action Wednesday in Corbin.
Crittenden County was a first round winner over Lexington Christian, 56-53. Earlier, Mayfield fell to Walton-Verona 45-30.
Crittenden County (11-7) will face Pikeville (14-2) on Friday.
Semifinal games will take place on Saturday, and the state finals on Sunday afternoon.
