If you're looking for a memento from this spring's historic cicada double invasion, this may be for you.
Last week, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled a limited-edition cicada bobblehead complete with the noisy bug's wide-set, red eyes, short antennae and membranous wings. The bobbleheads are positioned on a base with the name across the front and a grass-like texture on top.
The collectible will commemorate the rare simultaneous emergence of two separate broods of periodic cicadas, the first pairing since 1803. Trillions of Brood XIII 17-year and Brood XIX 13-year cicadas made a deafening din across amost two dozen Midwest and eastern states.
The bobbleheads are available to preorder online for $30 each plus shipping. They’re expected to ship in November.
The museum is located in Milwaukee, and features more than 10,000 different bobbleheads.
