Police say a Kentucky sheriff’s deputy fatally shot a Tennessee man who pointed a gun at law enforcement officers.
Kentucky State Police released findings Tuesday from its preliminary investigation into the July 9 shooting involving the Barren County Sheriff’s Office. Police say deputies were conducting a welfare check when 31-year-old Dillon E. Walker of Westmoreland, Tennessee, fled from his vehicle on foot.
Police say deputies found him armed in a field and ordered him to drop the gun, but he instead pointed it at officers.The statement says one deputy fired, hitting him. Walker was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office.
