A new program aims to remove workforce barriers for Kentuckians recently released from incarceration.

The 'Prison-to-Work Pipeline' allows employers across all 120 Kentucky counties to virtually interview incarcerated Kentuckians, with the goal of the inmate being offered a start date before returning to society.

The program will also help individuals with their resumes and preparing them for interviews. It will be at all 13 state prison and 19 local jails.

The Dept. of Corrections has also launched the Job Readiness Simulation, a virtual learning program that teaches inmates job interview skills.

State officials say by ensuring inmates have employment and housing once they're released, they are less likely to re-offend or return to prison.
