A Hopkins County man has been fired from his job and booked into jail after he allegedly trapped a co-worker in a room and filled it with hot steam.

Madisonville Police said they spoke with a woman who told them she worked in a factory with 23-year-old Barrett Korinta.

She told them that on Wednesday, they were in the rack wash room which sprays 200-degree steam and chemicals on trays.

The victim said Korinta closed and latched the door, purposely leaving her inside.

She said he then turned the machine on, causing steam and chemicals to spray the room.

The woman said she was able to turn it off with an emergency switch before she became unconscious and fell to the floor.

She was taken to the hospital with injuries to her face and head. She was also treated the next day for a concussion.

Korinta is charged with wanton endangerment and unlawful imprisonment.
