As the year ends, Kentucky's Office of Medical Cannibis says things are on schedule for the rollout of the sale of medical marijuana.

The agency said it has licensed or selected all of the medical cannabis businesses for the new program. The state has currently registered over 220 doctors and APRNs across the commonwealth who can write certifications for Kentuckians suffering from qualifying medical conditions.

The Office of Medical Cannabis will begin accepting applications from Kentucky patients for medical cannabis cards  on January 1. The application portal will be available at kymedcan.ky.gov .

On Thursday, Gov. Beshear said that since December 1, over 1,800 Kentuckians have already visited one of the registered practitioners and received their written certification.
