Kentucky State Police Commissioner Phillip Burnett, Jr. announced Tuesday Sherry Bray has been promoted as the first civilian to serve as the agency's spokesperson and Sgt. Matthew Sudduth has been promoted as the public affairs commander.

The previous public affairs commander, Captain Howard "Paul" Blanton, who served in this role since Oct. 2021, announced his retirement after 20 years of service to the commonwealth with the Kentucky State Police.

Bray is a 22-year veteran of the agency. She has served in various roles within the public affairs branch while spearheading the agency's social media accounts, which have been nationally recognized.

Sgt. Sudduth is a 10-year veteran of the agency. His previous assignments include Post 5 Campbellsburg where he served as a Trooper, including a year as the post-level public affairs officer.

In December 2020, he was assigned to the Public Affairs Branch at KSP Headquarters in Frankfort. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in September of 2022.
