A bi-state agreement between Kentucky and Indiana means the I-69 Ohio River crossing to connect Henderson, Ky., and Evansville, Ind., is a step closer to reality.
The states have signed an initial memorandum of agreement to allow preliminary development and financial planning to move forward for the new river crossing.
I-69 ORX construction is divided into three sections. Construction on the Kentucky approach already started in the summer of 2022 and is expected to be complete by the end of 2025. The Indiana approach is expected to let this fall with construction expected to begin in early 2024. Work is expected to be complete in 2026.
The bridge crossing is scheduled to begin construction in 2027 and be complete in 2031.
