A familiar face on television news in Nashville, and before that in Paducah, has officially announced her retirement.

After more than 30 years in front of the camera, Amy Watson shared the announcement on Nashville's NewsChannel 5, where she has worked for the last 18 years as a morning news anchor.

Her last morning newscast will be Friday, October 25th.

Watson had earlier posted on social media that she will spend time caring for her mother and enjoying time with her grandchildren.

Watson grew up in Murray and started her career at TV-43 in Hopkinsville. Before her time with NewsChannel 5, she worked at WPSD in Paducah, as well as the Chattanooga and Cape Girardeau markets.

She lives in Hopkinsville with her husband Derrick Watson. Together they have three children and two grandchildren.
