A cargo jet operated by FedEx made an emergency landing in Chattanooga Wednesday night after reporting failure of its landing gear.
The Chattanooga Fire Department posted on Facebook that they rushed to the Chattanooga Regional Airport late Wednesday night with police and county emergency personnel.
Airport authorities had reported at 11:04 p.m. that a FedEx 757 was on its final approach with a landing gear failure.
The jet circled before making its final descent with three people on board. The plane crash landed, skidding off the end of the runway. It came to a rest between the runway and Jubilee Drive in the safety area. The three pilots on the aircraft were not injured.
The FAA said in a statement that the aircraft was headed to Memphis International Airport when it returned.
Flight radar reportedly showed that it took off from Chattanooga, circled to burn fuel and came back.
