Daniel Cameron swept the western half of Kentucky, but Governor Andy Beshear rode to reelection on dominating vote totals in Louisville and Lexington.

That's the first glance headline from county-by-county results tallied by the state of Kentucky in Tuesday's general election.

Of 1.3 million votes cast, Beshear won by five percent, or 67,000 votes.

In Louisville alone, Beshear jumped ahead by 103,000 votes, grabbing 70 percent of Jefferson County's total.

In Lexington, Beshear received a 45,000-vote cushion with 72 percent of the Fayette County votes cast.

The westernmost counties carried by Beshear were Henderson, Daviess and Warren. All other counties west of Louisville went to Cameron.

McCracken County had the closest race in the west, with Cameron up by 6 percent. Calloway was next at 8 percent, and Fulton went to Cameron by 10 points. Otherwise, Cameron's margins in counties from Lake Barkley to the Mississippi River ranged from 14 to 28 percent.

Cameron won 91 of Kentucky's 120 counties, compared to 29 for Beshear.
