Armed man killed in standoff with Dyersburg police

A stand-off with police left an armed man dead in an officer-involved shooting Sunday in Dyersburg.

Dyersburg Police were called to a home after a man was reportedly making threats about harming himself and others. They determined that the man, identified as Courtney Alexander, was armed and tried to de-escalate. Alexander, however, would not drop his weapon and pointed it at police.

Officers fired at Alexander, killing him. No officers were injured.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is leading the inquiry into the case.
