The worldwide internet technology issues that have plagued airlines, media, and 911 centers have impacted at least one Western Kentucky system.

The Carson Center posted on social media that their ticketing is down due to the service outage. They said that their website was disrupted by the defect in an update from CrowdStrike, the global cybersecurity firm. Carson Center officials stressed that this is not a security issue, rather it is the same problem affecting enterprise platforms around the world.

Barkley Regional Airport, though, was not affected. Executive Director Dennis Rouleau told West Kentucky Star that the airport had zero IT issues. He said Contour Airlines had no impacts either.

Indications are that the global problems stemmed from an update from CrowdStrike related to Microsoft-based cloud applications. The Associated Press reports that fixes for the problem have been deployed and systems are slowly returning to normal.
