The Graves County Sheriff’s Office began investigating on Tuesday after a 5-year-old child was reported have injuries consistent with choking and excessive bruising around the neck.
Detectives and a worker from the Kentucky Department of Community Based Services went to a home in Wingo and arrested 26-year-old Trevor Green and 25-year-old Shyane Nicole Merrie Green. They were taken to an out-of-county jail.
The pair were charged with criminal abuse of a child under the age of 12.
The child was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Police said that emergency custody of the child was granted to a relative.
