A wind advisory has been issued for today from Crittenden and Caldwell counties, eastward into the Kentucky Pennyrile region until 4 p.m.
Wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour will be possible in the advisory area, with consistent southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph across the quad state.
Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Meanwhile, a tornado watch is in effect until noon for the southern Illinois counties of Hardin and Gallatin, and until 11 a.m. for Williamson, Saline, Hamilton and White counties.
