Two rounds of severe storms on Thursday had a common theme of up to 60-mile-per-hour winds that brought down trees and power lines, along with occasions of large hail across the quad state.

Gibson Electric announced power outages in western Kentucky and northern Tennessee. As of 9:15 p.m., a total of 20 outages were affecting 597 customers in Fulton and Hickman counties in Kentucky along with Obion County, Tennessee.

KY 94 in Fulton County was blocked due to a number of downed power lines. The roadway will close again at 9 a.m. on Friday and remain closed until repairs are finished.

Reports of trees down came in from Ballard County.

Lightning struck a tree that blocked both directions of traffic at 11th and Elm in Murray.

Several trees were downed in Marshall County. Similar reports came in from Mayfield and in Carlisle County.

A tree was uprooted and a roof was blown off a garage in Hopkinsville.

One inch hail was reported in Ballard County, in Marshall County and in Graves County at Hickory.

In southern Illinois, 1.75 inch hail was reported in Pulaski County.

The early afternoon reports began in southeast Missouri, where 2.75 inch hail was reported in Stoddard County.
