Two inmates charged with bringing fentanyl into Marshall County Detention Center

Two women are facing felony charges after allegedly bringing narcotics into the Marshall County Detention Center last week.

The sheriff’s office said deputy jailers at the detention center received an anonymous tip Friday that suspected fentanyl was brought into the female housing area while two inmates were admitted.

During their investigation, the deputy jailers found approximately 3 grams of suspected fentanyl from two female inmates. The two, who were being housed on a recent fentanyl trafficking case, admitted to bringing the suspected fentanyl into the secured facility.

The sheriff’s office said the inmates also admitted to using the suspected fentanyl inside the detention center, trafficking it to other inmates, and planning to distribute it among neighboring jail cells.

Marshall County Detention Center staff conducted drug screenings on all inmates. Of the eight inmates in the cell, six reportedly tested positive for fentanyl. One inmate appeared to have overdosed and needed additional monitoring.

The two inmates, 45-year-old Darlyn P. Allen and 24-year-old Sarah R. Bross-West, both from Georgia, were each charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and promoting contraband.
