Two people have been arrested in connection with a burglary at a youth center in Metropolis.

The burglary at the Gear Up Youth Center on 6th Street in Metropolis happened back on July 21st. Metropolis Police said that cameras, TVs, food, and clothing items were taken from the center. Two suspects were caught on surveillance video, and police used that to identify them.

Police caught up to one of those individuals on Friday. Officers were looking for a stolen vehicle when they found 26-year-old Jordon Hine, also known as Jordon Dyer, driving that vehicle along 8th Street. Hine was arrested, but in the police cruiser, she showed signs of overdosing. Narcan was used, and Hine was taken to the hospital. She was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, in addition to warrants out of McCracken County for theft of property and auto theft. Officers told her she was a suspect in the burglary after she was released from the hospital.

As they continued to investigate, police caught up with the other suspect, 30-year-old Austin Burnham of Metropolis. He was charged with burglary and theft in the youth center case, in addition to a warrant for auto theft out of Paducah.

Both suspects were booked into the Massac County Detention Center.

Police said the center has gotten most of the stolen items back. The investigation is continuing, and more arrests could be made.
