A trespassing complaint ended with drug and gun charges for a Mayfield couple.
The Graves County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the complaint at 1 pm on Thursday near the Mayfield Creek between KY 58 and KY 464.
Two people, identified as 29-year-old Sarah Atkins and 30-year-old Jacob Atkins, were living in a tent on the property without permission. Both had active warrants for their arrest.
During a search deputies allegedly found methamphetamine and a firearm. Both have felony convictions for prior methamphetamine charges. Deputies said they also discovered that a large amount of trash and garbage from their camp site had been dumped in the area.
Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, criminal trespassing and criminal littering.
Sarah Atkins was served with two Graves County Circuit Court Bench Warrant for failure to appear and failure to report to jail.
Jacob Atkins was served with a Graves County Circuit Court Bench Warrant for failure to report to jail.
