A Mayfield man will face charges in McCracken County after a traffic stop and pursuit.

Deputies stopped the vehicle early Wednesday morning on Clark's River Road for alleged traffic violations.

The driver, later identified as 41-year-old Joshua Williams, was reportedly uncooperative and appeared under the influence.

While speaking with Williams, officers placed a tire deflation device in front of the vehicle in case he fled.

Williams reportedly fled soon after, then abandoned his vehicle on Pugh Road before fleeing on foot.

He was caught soon after and reportedly resisted arrest, leading to injuries for the deputy and himself.

The sheriff's office additionally said Williams was believed to have taken drugs during the incident. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Williams was eventually jailed on charges of DUI, reckless driving, menacing, resisting arrest, fleeing or evading, wanton endangerment, possession of meth, possession of an unspecified drug, criminal mischief, tampering with evidence, and more.
