Traffic stop leads to arrest of Paducah man

A Paducah man was arrested early Wednesday morning following a traffic stop on Kentucky Avenue.

Paducah Police pulled over the vehicle driven by 31-year-old Ismael C. Ruiz after it was reportedly spotted committing a traffic offense.

Officers said they noticed the smell of marijuana in the vehicle and noted Ruiz's driver's license was suspended.  A loaded .380 pistol was allegedly found hidden under the hood in the engine compartment during a search of the vehicle.

Ruiz has multiple prior felony convictions and is prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
