Traffic stop leads to arrest of Paducah man

A Paducah man was arrested early Wednesday morning following a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Kentucky Avenue.

Paducah Police pulled over the vehicle operated by 31-year-old Ismael C. Ruiz after it was spotted committing a traffic offense.

Officers noticed the smell of marijuana in the vehicle and noted Ruiz's driver's license was suspended.  While the vehicle was being searched, a loaded .380 pistol was found hidden under the hood in the engine compartment.

Ruiz has multiple prior felony convictions and is prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
