A traffic stop followed by a foot pursuit landed a Metropolis man in jail on drug and other charges.

Metropolis Police spotted 29-year-old Stephen S. Youman driving along Pullen Road. The officer was familiar with Youman and knew his driver's license had been revoked. A computer check also showed the license plate was listed as being from a different vehicle. Police tried to stop Youman as he pulled into McDonald's.

Youman is said to have taken off running across 5th Street. As he headed toward Ft. Massac, he ran behind the school bus lot. The officer fired his taser and took Youman into custody. Youman was reportedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a glass pipe.

Youman was charged meth possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a revoked license, improper use of registration, no registration, and resisting arrest. He was taken to the Massac County Detention Center.
