An early morning traffic accident Wednesday led to the arrest of a Mayfield man.
The Graves County Sheriff's Office said around 3:40 am deputies were dispatched to the approximate two mile marker on KY 97 near the Kentucky/Tennessee state line for a one vehicle crash.
The vehicle suffered very severe damage however deputies were unable to locate any occupants in or around the crash site.
After running the vehicle registration, it was found that the vehicle belonged to 30 year old Stephen G. Jaco of Mayfield.
Around 8:30 Wednesday morning, Jaco was located at his residence after just arriving at that location.
Jaco confirmed he was operating the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Numerous alcohol containers were located in and around the vehicle.
He was charged for leaving the scene of an accident.
On June 03, 2023 Jaco committed the same offense after crashing a vehicle at the intersection of Scott Road and KY 339, leaving the vehicle and fleeing from the scene but was later apprehended.
He was charged with multiple offenses at that time and is currently on a court ordered diversion.
