The Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corporation approved more than $2.9 million in loans for several counties across the state, including Caldwell County, at its monthly meeting.

According to WPKY, the approved funding includes nine beginning farmer loans which totals more than $1.8 million, with Caldwell County among the recipients approved for $250,000.

The Beginning Farmer Loan Program is designed to help those with some farming experience that wish to develop, expand, or buy into a farming operation.

Beginning farmers may qualify for financing to purchase livestock, equipment, agricultural facilities, farm real estate, secure permanent working capital, or invest in a partnership or limited liability company.

Local farmers interested in applying for future agricultural loans can contact their lender or call the Kentucky Office of Agricultural Policy at 502-382-6093.
