Southern IL 6th-grader dies in UTV accident

Families in Johnson County are mourning the death of a grade school student killed in a UTV crash on Sunday.

According to Buncombe Consolidated School District #43, 6th-grade student Brayden Ames died in an accident involving a side-by-side.  Two other students were injured in the crash.

In a post on the school’s Facebook page, Superintendent Jamie Kerley said that social workers and clergy will be available at school on Monday for students and staff to provide counseling and emotional care.

School leaders confirmed the two students injured have been treated and are recovering with their families.
