Severe thunderstorm threat has increased for later today and tonight

The National Weather Service at Paducah says the severe thunderstorm threat for later today into tonight has increased across our region.

All of southern Illinois and westernmost Kentucky is now under an enhanced (level 3 of 5) risk for severe storms this evening. The rest of western Kentucky is at a slight risk (level 2).

While isolated to scattered storms are possible this afternoon, some of which may be severe, the primary period for more widespread severe storms looks to be this evening and into tonight.

All threats are possible with these storms including the potential for strong, long-track tornadoes.
