The Salvation Army of Paducah has launched an emergency food campaign in response to a rise in local food-assistance requests.

Major Pat Towne said in a press release Tuesday that the number of requests are sometimes three to five times higher than usual levels in recent weeks.

Major Towne said that with grocery and utility prices continuing to strain family budgets, they’re seeing many neighbors turning to them for the first time.

In response, the Salvation Army has launched the “Feed Hope. Share Love” campaign to help.

If you'd like to help, you can donate non-perishable food items during business hours at The Salvation Army location at 2990 Trimble Street.

You can also donate online or by mailing a check to The Salvation Army of Paducah, P.O. Box 3189, Paducah, KY 42002-3189.

If you live in the area and would like to donate non-perishable food items, you can do so at The Salvation Army location at 2990 Trimble Street, Paducah, Ky. during regular business hours.

The Salvation Army will provide food boxes to help meet the needs of families, seniors and individuals facing hardship.

Major Towne said $50 feeds 3-5 families for a week, $100 feeds 6-10 families, $500 feeds 30-50 families, $1,000 provides food assistance services for several weeks and $5,000 can fund the food assistance program for a month.
