Report of a burglary lands a Metropolis woman in jail

A report of a home burglary landed a Metropolis woman in jail.

Metropolis Police were called to East 14th Street by a man who said someone broke into his home. When officers got there a man and woman were standing in the driveway. The man told police that when he came home from work he could tell someone had gotten into his home. Once inside, he realized they were still there and called 911.

The man allegedly found 31-year-old Emily Holland of Metropolis sitting on the couch and could see where drawers had been gone through and items disturbed in the house. He told officers he did not know Holland, nor did he approve of her entering his home.

Holland was arrested and charged with residential burglary. She was taken to the Massac County Detention Center.
