Progress is being made in rebuilding the Princeton campus of the University of Kentucky Research and Education Center, after it was destroyed in the 2021 tornado.
Facility director Dr. Carrie Knott provided an update at the Princeton Rotary Club’s meeting on Tuesday.
Knott recalled that two years ago, 59 structures on the experiment farm were destroyed or damaged in the deadly tornado.
Knott said they will consolidate and rebuild 20 structures. Eleven have been rebuilt so far.
She said four projects totaling approximately $45 million are coming online — two this calendar year, with construction to start soon on two more buildings.
Two of the larger buildings will be a resident hall, and a pole barn to be used as the field processing building. The faclity's greenhouse complex is also in the final planning stages.
Knott said they expect everything to be completed by August 2025, in time for the experiment farm’s 100th anniversary.
WPKY was at the Rotary meeting, and provided more remarks from Dr. Knott in their story linked here .
