A push by the Beshear administration to increase the number of juvenile detention center security personnel is beginning to show some results, including in McCracken County.
On Thursday, the Department of Juvenile Justice announced that 59 officers had completed the academy, with another 22 set to graduate on March 17th.
Six members of that graduating class have been assigned to the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center.
After violence erupted in a couple of juvenile facilities around the state, Beshear moved to address staffing and retention issues by raising minimum salaries to $50,000 and reclassifying the security staff as correctional officers.
