Princeton woman hospitalized following traffic accident

A Caldwell County woman was taken to a Nashville hospital following a single vehicle accident on Dawson Road Wednesday afternoon.

The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office said the accident occured just before 3:30 in the 17000 block of Dawson Road when a vehicle operated by 19-year-old Gracie Harper was travelling eastbound at an unsafe speed.

Harper lost control of her vehicle, exited the road and struck a utility pole and tree.

The utility pole was reportedly severed causing powelines to arc and igniting a fire in the ditch line of US 62.  The fire was quickly put out.

Harper was flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
