Search resumes this morning for elderly Pope County man

First responders in Pope County on Monday afternoon began a search for an elderly man with dementia.

According to the Pope County Sheriff’s Department, 80-year-old Jerry Harris was reported missing on Monday. He was last seen leaving on foot from his home on Ruby Yewell Road off the Eddyville Blacktop between Golconda and Eddyville.

He is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 158 pounds. He was wearing a bright green coat.

The Pope County Rural Protection District posted Monday night that the active search was curtailed after dark, to resume at 8 am this morning, including the use of many personnel walking the woods, K-9 units, drones and the use of a search plane.
