Paducah was on track to break a Halloween weather record today, until a much-needed storm front arrived..
This morning started with the warmest low ever experienced on Halloween in Paducah. Just after midnight, the temperature was at 70 degrees at the National Weather Service office, and has only risen through the morning.
The previous mark for the "highest low" was 68 degrees, set in 2003.
But after 8 a.m. a cold front rolled through with a welcome round of rain, basically the only significant total for October. It also dropped the temperature at Barkley Field down to 66 degrees, which is precisely Paducah's average high afternoon temperature on this date.
Today's balmy start was in contrast to last Halloween in Paducah, when the high struggled to just 49 degrees.
The expected inch of rain won't be the wettest Halloween, though. In 2018, Paducah received 2.41 inches.
