Paducah joins Carbondale in losing their store. The Carbondale closure was announced last September, one of 18 Illinois store closings. The Fairview Heights store east of St. Louis will also shut down.

In total, the company is reducing the number of Bed Bath & Beyond stores from 760 to about 360, with the company keeping only its most profitable stores open. At its peak in 2017, the storied brand had 1,552 stores open.
The planned closures, announced in a regulatory filing Monday, come as the company also said it had struck a deal to raise $1 billion in funding to stave off a bankruptcy filing for now. The fundraising deal was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Shares in Bed Bath & Beyond plunged more than 12% in Wednesday morning trading.
