Paducah man jailed after brief stand-off

A woman claiming to have escaped from her estranged husband led to a brief stand-off and eventual arrest of a Paducah man.

Police were called on Saturday to a home in the 2000 block of Bridge Street after a woman said she was held against her will for over an hour.

Officers said the man, identified as 54-year-old Warren Asher, refused to leave his home when they arrived.

Authorities contacted Asher by phone and talked for more than an hour before finally convincing him to surrender.

He was arrested on charges of unlawful imprisonment and second degree assault.
