Paducah man arrested on assault charge

A Paducah man was arrested on an assault charge early Tuesday morning.

Deputies responded to the complaint at a home on Hovekamp Road where they said it was determined that 39-year-old Daniel J. Gaines, a convicted felon, had struck a Paducah woman in the face and head with a handgun.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Gaines was taken to the McCracken County jail on charges of assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
