Representatives from Paducah have been invited to attend the World Folk Arts Biennale in South Korea this October.

The Jinju World Folk Arts Biennale is a celebration that provides UNESCO Creative Cities with an outlet to share their aesthetic perspectives and experiences to contribute to the advancement of the performing arts and culture industry.

Seven representatives from Paducah will attend the event from October 15-22.

Paducah will be represented by musicians The Wheelhouse Rousters, Seth Murphy, and Yeiser Executive Director, Lexie Millikan.

The city joined UNESCO network in 2013 as a City of Crafts and Folk Art. Paducah will celebrate its 10th anniversary as a UNESCO Creative City next year.

Mary Hammond, Executive Director of the Paducah Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the designation has directly impacted growth in tourism economic impact.

She said, "It’s differentiated Paducah and positioned us for the future. Building upon this new platform, Paducah has earned unparalleled national and worldwide attention for our cultural richness."
