Numerous complaints of a foul smell coming from a vehicle led to charges for the owner of a Paducah pet cremation business.
On Tuesday, a resident reported an extremely foul smell coming from a vehicle belonging to Jacob Jetton.
The resident said Jetton owned a pet cremation business, and they were concerned he may have been improperly disposing of them.
The sheriff's office said they learned that customers of the cremation business were concerned because they had not received the remains of their pets, and other customers believed they hadn't received their pet's actual remains.
A search of Jetton's vehicle reportedly uncovered eight dead animals, several of which were reportedly given to Jetton to cremate.
In addition, authorities said Jetton did not have a McCracken County business license.
Jetton was arrested on Tuesday and charged with disorderly conduct, not having a license for the business, local ordinance violations, and failure to notify of an address change.
On Wednesday, deputies searched Jetton's home and another location, where it was allegedly determined he had not been cremating the pets.
He was additionally charged with two counts of theft by deception over $1,000 but less than $10,000.
Anyone with concerns about not receiving a service they paid Jetton for, or those that believe they haven't received what they should have from Jetton, are encouraged to call the sheriff's office at 270-444-4719
