The Paducah Board of Commissioners has passed an ordinance giving taxpayers an additional way to pay city real estate or property taxes.
At Tuesday's meeting, Commissioners gave passage to a measure that would implement what they call Interactive Voice Response for the paying of tax bills over the phone. The number would make paying property and real estate taxes available at any time. Taxpayers could use the Interactive Voice Response and pay with an electronic check or credit card without having to give that information to someone in the city finance office.
As a part of the new system, English and Spanish language prompts will be available. There will be a service fee of $0.50 on top of any bank processing fees for the credit cards and e-checks.
This new system is in addition to the online portal available for the community. Bills can also be paid in person during normal business hours.
The city noted that some 15,000 real estate and property tax bills are processed each year.
