Murder indictment and civil case added to Cleaver cases

An murder indictment was issued Friday in the case of a Murray man accused of killing his estranged wife.

The Murray Sentinel reported Russell Cleaver was indicted by a Calloway County grand jury on murder, assault and criminal mischief charges in two separate cases. 

In addition, days earlier the estate of Brittany Cleaver, who was shot August 17th filed a civil action seeking to prevent the sale or transfer of the Sunset Drive property where the Aug. 17 shooting occurred.

Brittany Cleaver died September 4th.  Russell Cleaver already faced charges in a separate circuit court case involving Brittany Cleaver before the shooting. 

In addition, the administrator of Brittany Cleaver’s estate filed a civil case last week against Russell Cleaver and his father asking the court to preserve the property while questions over ownership remained unresolved. A temporary restraining order was granted in this portion of the case.

Russell Cleaver is scheduled to appear in court for both the criminal and civil portions of the case this Friday.
