Motorcycle pursuit leads to fugitive's arrest in Lyon County

A motorcycle pursuit in Lyon County early Sunday morning led to the arrest of a fugitive on several charges.

A state trooper attempted to stop the motorcycle in Eddyville for an alleged traffic violation. Authorities said the pursuit continued on US 62 into Kuttawa before ending on Iuka Ferry Road.

Deputies said the driver, 38-year-old David E. Marutzky of Illinois, drove into a field where he began to flee on foot. He was later found on the bank of the Cumberland River, where deputies said he resisted arrest before he was tased and taken into custody.

He was served with warrants for kidnapping, wanton endangerment, terroristic threatening, fleeing or evading police, strangulation, assault, theft, escape, and being a persisting felony offender.

Marutzky was additionally charged with resisting arrest, fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, and possession of meth and marijuana.

He was taken to the Crittenden County jail.
