The Metropolis Police Department announced this week a succesful impaired driving enforcement effort which concluded Labor Day weekend.
According to Chief Harry Masse, the Labor Day emphais period ran from August 14th through September 7th.
The enforcement resulted in two arrests for driving under the influence, 17 seat belt citations were issued along with one child restraint citation, 71 speeding violations, five criminal arrests and 20 other citations.
Metropolis Police collaborated with other law enforcment agencies and highway safety partners across Illinois.
The effort was part of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over", "Drive High, Get a DUI" and "Click It or Ticket" initatives, funded by federal highway safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
