The Lyon County Sheriff's office released more details about a home invasion in Kuttawa over the weekend.

They reported that on Sunday morning around 3 a.m., a Kuttawa resident called 9–1-1 to report an unknown white male had kicked in the front door to their home. When the suspect kicked in the door, it struck and injured a female who had been looking through the peep hole.

Family members attempted to keep the suspect from entering the home any further by pushing against the door. When one family member yelled to another to call 9-1-1, the offender fled.

A deputy obtained a description of the suspect. Evidence at the scene including video surveillance also helped to develop an idea of the suspect's identity and his vehicle.

For two days, members of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and the Western Kentucky Violent Crime Task Force conducted surveillance in two counties. They eventually detained 46-year-old Justin Bruce Harper of Calvert City after he stopped at a local convenience store.

A search of Harper's vehicle uncovered 3 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, 60 packets of suboxone, marijuana, morphine and pills.

Harper was transported to Lyon County and charged with burglary and assault. He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

The Calvert City Police Department will pursue criminal charges related to drug trafficking in Marshall County.
