A Metropolis man was arrested after he allegedly threw a brick at an excavator and its operator on Thursday.
The operator told police he was tearing down a home on Broadway when 60-year-old Darrell A. McCoy reportedly threw a brick, breaking two windows on the excavator he was using. McCoy then ran.
Officers found items believed to belong to McCoy as they searched the area. Police also discovered that the church at 8th and Broadway had a door that was damaged and ajar. A search of the building located McCoy hiding in the basement.
McCoy was charged with felony criminal damage to property and criminal trespass. He was taken to the Massac County Detention Center.
