A McCracken County Public Schools employee has been arrested and charged with illegal sexual contact with a female juvenile.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old Julio Estrada, a program coordinator at Reidland Middle, after an investigation into claims made by a juvenile female. The girl reported that Estrada had allegedly had illegal sexual contact with her about a year ago.

The investigation did reportedly uncover evidence to corroborate her claims. After that evidence was found, the McCracken County Commonwealth’s Attorney was consulted on the appropriate charges in the case.

A search warrant was served at Estrada’s home on Thursday. Detectives said they were looking for further evidence in the case. Estrada was arrested by detectives at the residence in Reidland at about 4 p.m. on Thursday. He was charged with four counts of third-degree rape and a charge of unlawful transaction with a minor.

McCracken County Schools Superintendent Josh Hunt said in a statement, "We are aware of the arrest of a district employee and take these allegations with the utmost seriousness. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and will continue to follow all legal and district procedures."

McCracken County Schools Police, the school district, and Paducah Police all assisted in the investigation, which is continuing.
