A traffic stop in McCracken County Tuesday led to the arrest of two people on drug charges.

Tuesday morning, detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff's Office stopped a vehicle on James Sanders Blvd as part of a drug investigation.

Detectives say the driver, 42-year-old Daniel E. Copeland, was in possession of 6.7 grams of crystal methamphetamine, cash believed to be the proceeds from illegal drug sales, and drug paraphernalia.

Authorities then searched Copeland's hotel room, where they found his girlfriend, 36-year-old April M. Moore of Hopkinsville. Detectives say Moore was also in possession of methamphetamine.

Additionally, a search of the room allegedly uncovered more methamphetamine, diazepam pills, other prescription medications, and drug paraphernalia.

They were both arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Jail.

Copeland is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.

Moore is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of a legend drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
