A McCracken County man charged with dozens of counts of animal cruelty has pleaded guilty.

The McCracken District Court Clerk said 66-year-old Harold Campbell entered a guilty plea Tuesday to 52 counts of second-degree cruelty to animals and one count of contempt of court. He was sentenced to one year behind bars.

Campbell was arrested following the search of a home in October of 2019. The investigation uncovered more than four dozen Chihuahuas living in poor conditions.

His daughter, Jennifer, pleaded guilty to similar charges in August and was sentenced to 11 months in jail on the animal cruelty charges and a year on failure to appear charges.
