McCracken County deputy jailer arrested on sexual abuse charges

A McCracken County deputy jailer has been arrested on charges of sexual abuse towards an inmate.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said they took over an investigation of Gabrielle Baerd, deputy jailer, after Jailer Stephen Carter brought the initial investigation to the sheriff's office. 

Deputies said they discovered Baerd had inappropriate sexual contact with a male inmate on several occasions. They said this occurred while Baerd was working as a deputy jailer.

Baerd was arrested Thursday and charged with sexual abuse and official misconduct. She was lodged in the Marshall County Jail.
