The McCracken County Fiscal Court announced Monday that work is underway to develop, write and publish a book to celebrate next year's 200th anniversary of the county.

The library-quality coffee-table book will include a detailed narrative that traces the county's history back to its formation in 1825. with hundreds of photographs and illustrations.

The project will be directed by a Bicentennial History Book Committee that includes local librarians, historians, and county leaders. Members of the community will have an opportunity to participate in the development of the book by providing photographs and stories for the committee to consider.

Judge Executive Craig Clymer said, “The county bicentennial is the perfect time to reflect on the key events, challenges, and way of life that have marked our progress as a community through the years. This book will be a wonderful source of reflection and inspiration for years to come.”

Brochures and additional information about the project will be available throughout the county in the upcoming weeks.

The book is being published by Acclaim Press, which specializes in community histories and trade publications.
Additional information about the book and ordering options is available on the Acclaim Press website: www.acclaimpress.com.
