Mayfield man accused of sharing child sexual abuse material online

A Mayfield man has been arrested and charged with sharing child sexual abuse materials online.

Kentucky State Police were conducting an undercover investigation when they discovered the alleged sharing of images portraying child sexual exploitation online. The information prompted the obtaining of a search warrant for a home in Mayfield. Troopers and detectives served that warrant Thursday, just before Noon. During that search, they seized electronic equipment reportedly belonging to 20-year-old Cole Steven Farthing of Mayfield.

Farthing was arrested and charged with distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance under 12, and procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means.

The equipment taken from the scene is being examined in a forensic lab by the KSP.
